It was a sunny day in Paris and I had yet to visit the Jardin du Luxembourg. I went with a friend and we walked along the park trying to get a feel for the type of people who frequented it. Towards the entrances we found that the park-goers were mainly tourists, but the deeper we went in the older and more Parisian the inhabitants were. I walked with my back to the sun, a trick to catch people off guard, and began snapping away. When I reached this scene I was amazed by the pairing of couples in the front row. My favorite is the woman on the far right with the magazine over her face. I feel that everyone in the image is overly expressive, like they are in a play. I concluded that is due to the intensity of the sun, or perhaps it is simply because they are Parisian.
