Anndra Neen consists of two sisters, Annette and Phoebe Stephens whose jewelry is loud without bein a little too showy if you know what I mean.
The Stephens sisters told Refinery 29 that if their designs had a human equivalent, they would be the love children of Iris Apfel and Tilda Swinton — two women who embrace their femininity by having, what Phoebe describes "a seductive relationship with herself...the empowered woman of today." Basically, women who say ~f the h8rs, i'ma do what I want~
Anndra Neen successfully integrates patterns found in nature. Each collection shows a different method of jewelry making that they have used, or an aspect of nature that has inspired them like Bark, Melted, Leaf and Walnut, Seaweed, Spine, the list goes on. In some cases, the construction and aesthetic of their jewelry appears organic despite their industrial exterior.
Do not let the big prices scare you away. We are not asking our readers to purchase these items. We can't even afford the string that holds the metal together. We just want people to also appreciate their work objectively as pieces of art and culture like we do! Of course, if I had $870 dollars to spare on bling I probably would, but there surely is no harm in applauding designers for their talent. A little window shoppin' never hurt NOBODY.
